Lines Drawn

I can’t stand the lines that are drawn between men and women. I hate it. That we have to pretend we don’t care. Why don’t we love anymore? I don’t understand why I have to wait till you call me so that I don’t seem “thirsty”, but I can’t wait too long because then you may think I’m uninterested. This constant battle between pride and love. It’s just too much.

I hate the idea that a man and a woman can’t simply be friends. I was always told that a man will keep his friendship with a woman, but underneath all of those text messages exchanged, cups of coffee you’ve shared, and accumulated inside jokes is a man who is willing to sleep with you at any moment. I just can’t wrap my head around that. The line can be crossed freely by men, but women constantly tiptoe around it. Most of the time they don’t even think about it. They value the friendship, the person, the companion.

And I can’t speak for all…just the women I know. The most graceful and most shameful.

Always with love,
