I have a list of items that I need or would like in the notes section of my phone. A lot of times I list things I need for my room, and other times I list things I see on the internet that I’d like to have. I always see cute outfits or shirts from small independent companies that I’d like to support. I typically screenshot it and store it so that I can remember next time I have money or go shopping, so I can make a purchase.
The other day I had an epiphany. I don’t really shop for myself. I think it’s because I get a lot of anxiety. I am very indecisive when it comes to shopping because I am always thinking about bills and other things I should be spending my money on rather than treating myself. It’s almost like a guilty feeling. I also find myself shopping for my friends more than I do myself. There are always housewarmings, birthday parties, weddings, and babies popping out of everywhere. It’s hard to stay on top of it all.
Anyway, I made a promise to myself last month. I will purchase two items that I have on my list every time I get paid. That way I can start spending more money on the things I enjoy rather than just spreading love to my friends with my money. Ha!
So, this pay period I purchased a beanie from Slauson Ave Clothing.
If you aren’t familiar with the rapper Nipsey Hussle, he just released a mix tape on October 8th titled, Crenshaw. Crenshaw received media attention due to Nipsey’s marketing strategy of selling the mix tape for $100.00. Since it was a mix tape it was also offered online for free. I heard rapper, Jay-Z purchased 100 copies of the mixtape which was later confirmed by Nipsey on his interview with The Breakfast Club on Power 105. Seeing the influence Jay-Z has on Hip Hop culture purchasing 10 of Nipsey’s tapes was a bold motion of support for his music. I had to check it out. Nipsey has also started an entire “Proud to Pay” marketing movement in which he sells apparel and music. Although I didn’t purchase the $100.oo mix tape I did feel more inclined to purchase apparel. The $100.00 idea was brilliant. I also enjoyed listening to the mix tape, so I had to support. This hat cost me $40.00, and I paid $5.00 in shipping. I ordered it on November 18th, and it arrived here today. I am very pleased with my purchase. I can’t wait to take pictures with it on. #proudtopay
The second item I attempted to purchase was from dopeandfamous.com. I got a return email from their staff stating they no longer carry the sweater I wanted due to trademark issues. I was kind of disappointed because I really wanted that shirt, but they have other cute things on their site so I decided next round I’ll get something else.
Since I couldn’t get the sweater I wanted I decided to go on JuiceBeauty.com (as you all know is my favorite face wash line). I restocked on my favorite blemish clearing face wash, which I also discovered a coupon for. I got the face wash that is originally $28.00 for $16.50 total. I was super happy about that. The coupon expired on November 22nd. As I wrote on my Instagram I have samples that they sent me in the mail. Please email me at ladyysonly@gmail.com if you want me to mail you some samples.
I am super excited because I think my GlossyBox just came in last night. I haven’t gotten a chance to look through the mail, but I got a slip from the postal service. Hopefully it has arrived. If so, I will create a post for it tomorrow.
That’s all from me for today.
be inspired.
